New Sun: News

March 2008 - March 12, 2008

Busy, busy as usual.
Look on the music page to see what CSC has been working on lately. This is a cover of a classic song by a classic artist. Can you guess who the artist is?
Requested by a label in LA for inclusion on a meditation CD. Gus Fjelstrom (Maximum Indifference) guest on bass and loops.

SciFi writer Alastair Reynolds has given OK for CSC to release the song Chasm City based on book of same name. This will be released in June. Watch here for a short sample of the song by April.

CSC has been very busy in rehearsals with his other band MindFurniture<http://www.mindfurniture.com>
and things are progressing quite nicely. Look for shows this Summer in the SF Bay Area

CSC has also been busy tracking and mixing, as well as playing guitar on, the new Genre Peak CD Preternatural<http://www.genrepeak.net>. Slated for release this Summer.

All for now, be back soon and thanks for checking in

Sept 01 2007 - September 2, 2007

Yes, it's been a while since the news has been updated. Been busy, my friends.
CSC has officially joined the band Mind Furniture as their guitarist. This will be an interesting chapter in his musical career.

And no . . . New Sun is not dead, just hibernating till Winter. New material is slowly coming to life on the computer and being crafted as we speak.
Chris Trujillo has committed to playing drums again, which is a relief to CSC as finding a drummer who can handle New Sun's odd meter groove is not easy.

Later this month there will be some short examples of what's to be up on the music page.
For now, ta ta!

April 2007 News - April 10, 2007

CSC has been working on archiving, remixing, and mastering his debut EP release "This World" from 1991. You can find a download of the original mix of "Wingnuts" on the music page.
The release (Summer 2007) will a very limited one (300 copies) and can be pre-ordered by emailing him on the contact page.

New material is now finally past the pre-production stage and actually being recorded. It is an ardous task since CSC never writes anything straight forward or in 4/4 time! It looks as though this will be under the New Sun moniker, but CSC will be the only remaining original member.

Gus Fjelstrom and CSC have been working on new material as well. As of yet there is no name to the project and though starting out at an ambient project, sounds a bit more involved than that. Stay tuned!

March 2007 - March 7, 2007

CSC has been seen (or heard actually) on the newest Genre Peak song "Wear Your Ruin" with Mick Karn of Japan fame.

CSC will also be seen with the group Mind Furniture in the near future.

New material is progressing slowly, but progressing nevertheless. Dan Panasenko of Peter James and Genre Peak will guest on several pieces as will Gus Fjelstrom of Maximum Indifference. A new drummer has yet to be decided upon, but prospects are good.
Also look for more collaboration with Benito Cortez (violin) on several songs.

Several concepts that were mentioned late last year (some remixes and reissues) have been put on hold till further notice due to more interesting ideas arriving.
Stay tuned . . .

2007 - February 3, 2007

2006 has been layed to rest and another busy year in beginning to shape up.
Work does continue on new material, but at a way too slow pace. What with new work coming in the door for CSC.
Go to www.bluesevenaudio.com for the latest in releases he's been working on including playing on the new Genre Peak song "Wear Your Ruin". And sitting late at night playing his Bad Cat amp at really loud volumes in the studio. Huh? can't hear you . . .
